Senior Software Engineer (m/w/d) Kafka
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong focus on Kafka Connect and event-driven data integration. In this role, you will design, build and maintain high-performance Kafka Connectors that enable reliable, scalable and real-time data streaming between heterogeneous systems.
You will work at the core of modern data architectures, helping organizations connect databases, applications and services to Kafka-based streaming platforms.
Your Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain Kafka Connect connectors (source & sink)
Build and optimize event-driven data pipelines using Apache Kafka
Ensure connector robustness, scalability, fault tolerance and data consistency
Implement and configure Single Message Transforms (SMTs)
Work on schema management, serialization formats (Avro, JSON, Protobuf)
Collaborate with product, architecture and DevOps teams
Support integration projects, troubleshooting and performance tuning
Contribute to technical documentation and best practices
Required Skills
Strong experience with Java / JVM-based development
Solid hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Kafka Connect
Deep understanding of event streaming architectures
Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous processing
Familiarity with REST APIs and integration patterns
Analytical mindset and structured problem-solving skills
